ABOUT PROTONEX 3D
We sell machines.
Only the one that fits.
Protonex 3D was founded on a simple observation: most companies that struggle with 3D printing don't have a technology problem. They have an advice problem. We're here to fix that.

THE STORY
Ten years of seeing what
goes wrong.
Thomas Cheylus spent ten years inside the additive manufacturing industry — at Additive Industries scaling metal AM into aerospace production, at Desktop Metal selling binder jetting into industrial applications, and at AM-Flow automating high-volume post-processing. He watched companies invest in the wrong machines, over-engineer solutions for simple problems, and walk away from technology that would have worked if the application had been matched correctly from the start.
Protonex 3D exists because the Benelux market needs an expert who starts with the application — not the machine. Someone who will tell you when 3D printing is the wrong call, and who understands the difference between a machine that looks right on paper and one that actually fits your production environment.
We're a reseller. That's honest. But we're the kind of reseller who would rather lose a sale than place the wrong machine — because a bad placement costs you years, not just money.
BACKGROUND
2010 – 2017
TU Delft — Aerospace Engineering
BSc + MSc in Aerospace Engineering, specialising in structures and materials. Master thesis on fatigue life of additively manufactured titanium at VDL ETG.
2017 – 2021
GMR Group → Additive Industries
Business development engineering, then Technical Sales Manager at Additive Industries — scaling metal AM into automotive and aerospace OEMs across Europe.
2021 – 2023
Desktop Metal → AM-Flow
Regional Sales Manager at Desktop Metal for France and Benelux. Then Sales Manager at AM-Flow, driving automation of high-volume AM post-processing.
2024 – Present
Protonex 3D — Founded
Rebranded from Cheylus 3D. Application-first reseller of industrial 3D printing machines in the Benelux. Metal and polymer. BLT, INTAMSYS, TPM3D, UnionTech.
HOW WE WORK
What makes Protonex 3D different.
There are other 3D printing resellers in the Benelux. Here's what we do differently — and what we deliberately don't do.
-
We start with the problem you are trying to solve
Before we mention a single machine, we understand what you're trying to produce, at what volume, with what material requirements, and at what cost target. The machine comes last.
-
We tell you when 3D printing is the wrong call
If conventional manufacturing makes more sense for your application, we'll say so. We'd rather give you honest advice than close a sale that comes back to hurt you — and us.
-
We cover metal and plastics
Four vetted technology platforms — metal L-PBF, high-performance polymer FFF, polymer SLS, and SLA resin. We recommend the right technology, we don't push the one that is easiest for us.
-
We operate primarly in the Benelux
Our territory is Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. In some specific cases, we can work in other countries as well. That focus means we know the market, the regulations, and the industrial landscape our customers operate in.
OUR TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS
Four platforms. Vetted for industrial use.
We don't work with every brand. We work with the ones that deliver consistent results at industrial scale — and that we can stand behind technically.
BLT
Metal L-PBF
Our metal workhorse. Covers R&D through full production scale. Proven in aerospace, consumer electronics, and structural applications.
INTAMSYS
High-performance FFF
The specialist for PEEK, PEKK, PAEK and engineering thermoplastics. Fills the gap between standard FDM and metal for demanding applications.
TPM3D
Polymer SLS
Industrial nylon and TPU quality. The CF200 is office-safe and 220V plug-in — compact and clean. The S-series covers higher throughput and broader material requirements.
UnionTech
SLA Resin
Precision and large-format resin. Strong fit for prototyping, investment casting patterns, and large-scale visualisation models.
